THE RULES OF THE SHOW

All entries will be accepted subject to the following conditions:

  1. Entries must be made on prescribed forms and accompanied by appropriate entry fees.  The declaration on the entry form must be signed by the exhibitor.
  2. All livestock must be bona fide property of the exhibitor for at least 3 months prior to the show and in the case of farm and garden produce must be bona fide produce of the exhibitors’ farm and garden.  All other articles must be bona fide property of the exhibitor.
  3. No substitution allowed for any animal or article entered in any class.
  4. The judges may, in their absolute discretion, withhold any or all prizes in any class in which they consider that sufficient merit has not been shown.
  5. The judge’s decision as to merit shall be final.  All objections must be in writing, giving full details of the objection, full name and address of objector and must be lodged with the secretary within one hour after the judging of the class has taken place.  A fee of €50 must be lodged with each objection, which will be returned if objection is upheld but may be retained if, in the opinion of the committee, the objection is frivolous.
  6. The term ‘COMMITTEE’ in these rules means a group consisting of the Chairperson, Secretary, one Treasurer, one Vice-Chairperson and P.R.O. or any four of them.
  7. Neither the Society nor any of its officers or events shall be in any way responsible or accountable for anything that may happen (from any cause or circumstance whatever) to exhibitors or their servants.  Each exhibitor shall be responsible for any consequential or other loss, injury or damage done to or occasioned by or arising from any animal or article exhibited by him or her and for the description as given in the catalogue and shall indemnify the society against all legal or other proceedings in regard thereto.
  8. All cups and perpetual trophies must be returned to the secretary before the 1st of August each year and each recipient must sign a form accepting responsibility for cups or trophies before same are handed over to winners.
  9. Only judges may remain in ring during judging unless allowed by judges.
  10. All exhibits must be properly numbered before bring allowed into showground’s.
  11. Exhibits must be in position before 11.30am and must remain on grounds until 5.00pm.
  12. All animals must be kept under control and all dairy animals haltered and all horses bridled while on the grounds.
  13. The committee reserves the right to alter the programme in any way it deems necessary and exhibitors must be prepared to abide by any such alterations.
  14. If the committee is satisfied that anything exhibited is not in accordance with the Society’s rules, it will be competent for them to decide the question at issue.

Should any fraudulent practises be detected affecting any exhibit then all prizes awarded to such exhibit shall be forfeited to the Society.  The committee’s decision is final.

  1. Where age is a qualification, the committee may in any case direct an examination by a V.S.  The committee shall then hear any submission by the exhibitor and shall then decide the matter and their decision shall be final.
  2. The committee reserves the right to refuse to accept entries from any person without having to state a reason for such a refusal.

All entries are received and accepted subject to these rules and any exhibitor who violates or ignores them shall forfeit to the Society any prize money he may win.
